Out of the mouth of babes
Last night after I got home from the hospital with Colby, I was talking with Jahnna before bedtime. She was tired and denying it. I asked her if she knew how I could tell she was tired. She wanted to know so I told her it was because she had circles under her eyes. So she looks at my faces and traces under my eyes and says, Gee mom you must be the most tired of all!
Yesterday Jahnna also informed me that she doesn't like it when I am on this diet I've been on. I asked her why and she said it's because we don't get to eat the same food. So I innocently asked her "Is it because I get to eat shrimp and you don't?" She said "Yup, I want all the shrimp for me" So I guess it's ok if I diet just not if I eat shrimp.
Riley told Grandma Amundsen to "Come in" the other day when she came over. She grabbed her hand and pulled her in the door. She has also decided that she is a "funny girl" Any time she does something she thinks is funny she does this fake laugh and says "funny girl"
Just a little note about Colby and the hospital. Yesterday afternoon he started throwing up blood again and his nurse noticed little red spots all over his back. Well we've been down that road before it's a sign of super high blood pressure and the little vessels are bursting. So the pediatrician wanted us to go straight down to Primary's but I wanted blood tests first. Not that I wouldn't have gone but to drive 3 hours round trip on a friday night to salt lake city just for them to give me negative lab results was not really in the cards. So instead we went here. They drew blood, Colby's a trooper. His veins like to roll and so he got stuck 5 times before we got a good draw. He just watched his blues clues on the little dvd player that we always take to the dr. now. It makes life easier. His labs are a little off and his platelets a little lower than normal but really the kidney doctor needs to look at them and it's not a big deal. He is going to have to be put on another medication but we kind of knew that he was going to have to anyway. His kidneys were damaged pretty badly during the HUS. So not a big surprise. Anyway the high blood pressure was probably just a result of him screaming all night two nights ago and he elevated it himself. It was normal for him yesterday. I'm glad it was nothing major.
